With the support of the Mediterranean Women’s Fund, Leading Hands Organization (a Lebanese women-led non-governmental non-profit organization based in Tripoli) implemented a rapid protection and emergency dignity response across collective school shelters in Tripoli, such as ( Al Jadidah Official School for Girls in Al-Tall, Farah Antoun Public School for Boys in Al-Zahriyeh, May Al Oula Official School for Girls in Al-Tall, and May Al Thaniya Official School for Girls in Tripoli ) for women, girls, and families displaced between 11 and 50 years old by escalating conflict in Lebanon. These women faced extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, and the support provided helped ease some of their daily challenges while reinforcing their sense of dignity and community support. During this activity, Leading Hands team worked closely with people residing in shelters, listening to their demands and coordinating activities with the Ministry of Social Affairs to make sure that assistance was provided effectively, appropriately, and in a timely. We distributed 116 hygiene kits for 116 families. To increase the efficiency of support provision, hygiene products consisted of family-sized products (1000 ml), such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, liquid hand wash, hand gel, tissues, shower gel, feminine pads, and nail clippers (all distributed goods met the criteria of quality set by the Ministry of Public Health). It allowed us to provide support not only to women but to their families, including children. In total, the program helped almost 580 people directly. Alongside relief distribution, we conducted 5 interactive GBV awareness sessions for the displaced women in the shelters we reached, approximately 232 women, and distributed 1000 informational safety brochures for all the members of families, especially women, featuring direct hotlines and actionable reporting protocols tailored to overcrowded shelter environments to avoid any GBV and violence.
