Emergency Response to Gender Based Violence

Leading Hands Organization, in partnership with Doria Feminist Fund, implemented the Emergency Response to Gender-Based Violence project in 2025 to address critical protection needs of displaced women during Lebanon's ongoing crisis and conflict. The initiative served vulnerable women from Syrian and Lebanese communities who face heightened GBV risks due to displacement, economic instability, and weakened protection systems. The comprehensive program provided 32 direct beneficiaries with intensive awareness workshops covering harassment, physical abuse, psychological violence, and exploitation, followed by practical self-defense training to enhance physical strength and self-confidence. The project included specialized education on reporting mechanisms, trauma resilience sessions, and a comprehensive multilingual digital awareness campaign featuring participant testimonials shared across Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms, reaching an estimated 2,000+ indirect beneficiaries through viral video content and community sharing networks. Upon completion, all participants received comprehensive hygiene kits containing essential items including sanitary pads, soap, personal care products, and toiletries to support health and dignity in challenging humanitarian conditions. The intervention successfully strengthened protection awareness.
