Eyes on the Sea: Strengthening Coastal Awareness and Maritime Security

Under the slogan "Eyes on the Sea" and as part of the "Feminine Power" project in collaboration with the "Environmental Education Association," a group of motivated young women initiated an island cleanup after completing their academic projects. In addition to cleaning efforts, they organized awareness campaigns to educate the community on environmental conservation. Their work emphasized the importance of protecting nature, preserving biodiversity, safeguarding marine life from pollution, and enhancing the island's appeal as a tourist destination. This initiative has inspired many to volunteer and commit to environmental preservation for future generations. Group 3 dedicated its efforts to a beach cleaning initiative conducted in collaboration with three partners: the Environmental Education Association, the Municipality of Mina, and the Ministry of Tourism in Lebanon. The activity took place at Sanani Island in Tripoli-Mina and involved 20 direct beneficiaries. As a result of our collective efforts, the island was significantly cleaned, and we successfully implemented a recycling program for the collected waste. This initiative not only promoted tourism but also contributed to a cleaner environment, benefiting both residents and marine life. This collaborative project, executed in partnership with Association Lueur d’Espoir Kelaa des Sraghnas (Morocco), J-MED (France), and IECD, reflects a unified commitment to empowering young women and promoting sustainable social change.
